Operating Principle

The valve operates through a 90-degree rotary motion of the butterfly disc. The pneumatic actuator converts compressed-air energy into rotary movement to open or close the valve.

When the valve is fully open, the disc is positioned approximately parallel to the flow direction, allowing the medium to pass through the valve with minimal obstruction. When the valve is fully closed, the disc rotates perpendicular to the flow direction and the sealing system isolates the pipeline.

A double-acting pneumatic actuator uses compressed air for both opening and closing. A single-acting pneumatic actuator uses compressed air in one direction and spring force in the opposite direction, allowing the valve to be configured for fail-open or fail-closed operation.

Materials and Construction

The valve body can be manufactured from corrosion-resistant engineering plastics such as UPVC, CPVC, PP, PVDF, or other suitable materials according to the application requirements.

The disc and stem can be manufactured from suitable corrosion-resistant materials, while the sealing material can be selected according to the characteristics of the process medium, operating temperature, and pressure.
