Operating Principle

The valve uses a circular butterfly disc mounted on a central or offset shaft. The pneumatic actuator rotates the disc through approximately 90 degrees to control the flow of the medium.

When the disc is rotated to the fully open position, the flow passage is maximized, allowing air or gas to pass through with minimal resistance. When the disc rotates toward the closed position, the flow area is reduced, allowing the medium to be isolated or regulated.

A double-acting pneumatic actuator uses compressed air for both opening and closing. A single-acting actuator uses compressed air in one direction and spring force in the opposite direction, allowing fail-open or fail-closed configurations.
